CSIE 2011 is an international scientific Congress for distinguished scholars engaged in scientific, engineering and technological research, dedicated to build a platform for exploring and discussing the future of Computer Science and Information Engineering with existing and potential application scenarios. The congress has been held twice, in Los Angeles, USA for the first and in Changchun, China for the second time, each of which attracted a large number of researchers from all over the world. The congress turns out to develop a spirit of cooperation that leads to new friendship for addressing a wide variety of ongoing problems in this vibrant area of technology and fostering more collaboration over the world. The congress, CSIE 2011, received 2483 full paper and abstract submissions from 27 countries and regions over the world. Through a rigorous peer review process, all submissions were refereed based on their quality of content, level of innovation, significance, originality and legibility. 688 papers have been accepted for the international congress proceedings ultimately.

Innovations and Advanced Techniques in Computer and Information Sciences and Engineering

Innovations and Advanced Techniques in Computer and Information Sciences and Engineering

$139

Innovations and Advanced Techniques in Computer and Information Sciences and Engineering includes a set of rigorously reviewed world-class manuscripts addressing and detailing state-of-the-art research projects in the areas of Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Information Sciences. Innovations and Advanced Techniques in Computer and Information Sciences and Engineering includes selected papers form the conference proceedings of the International Conference on Systems, Computing Sciences and Software Engineering (SCSS 2006) which was part of the International Joint Conferences on Computer, Information and Systems Sciences and Engineering (CISSE 2006). All aspects of the conference were managed on-line; not only the reviewing, submissions and registration processes; but also the actual conference. Conference participants – authors, presenters and attendees – only needed an internet connection and sound available on their computers in order to be able to contribute and participate in this international ground-breaking conference. The on-line structure of this high-quality event allowed academic professionals and industry participants to contribute work and attend world-class technical presentations based on rigorously refereed submissions, live, without the need for investing significant travel funds or time out of the office. Suffice to say that CISSE received submissions from more than 70 countries, for whose researchers, this opportunity presented a much more affordable, dynamic and well-planned event to attend and submit their work to, versus a classic, on-the-ground conference. The CISSE conference audio room provided superb audio even over low speed internetconnections, the ability to display PowerPoint presentations, and cross-platform compatibility (the conferencing software runs on Windows, Mac, and any other operating system that supports Java). In addition, the conferencing system allowed for an unlimited number of participants, which in turn granted CISSE the opportunity to allow all participants to attend all presentations, as opposed to limiting the number of available seats for each session.

Curves And Surfaces for Computer Graphics

Curves And Surfaces for Computer Graphics

$89.95

Computer graphics is important in many areas including engineering design, architecture, education, and computer art and animation. This book examines a wide array of current methods used in creating real-looking objects in the computer, one of the main aims of computer graphics. Key features: * Good foundational mathematical introduction to curves and surfaces; no advanced math required * Topics organized by different interpolation/approximation techniques, each technique providing useful information about curves and surfaces * Exposition motivated by numerous examples and exercises sprinkled throughout, aiding the reader * Includes a gallery of color images, Mathematica code listings, and sections on curves surfaces by refinement and on sweep surfaces * Web site maintained and updated by the author, providing readers with errata and auxiliary material This engaging text is geared to a broad and general readership of computer science/architecture engineers using computer graphics to design objects, programmers for computer gamemakers, applied mathematicians, and students majoring in computer graphics and its applications. It may be used in a classroom setting or as a general reference.

 Fluorescence Imaging Spectroscopy and Microscopy

Fluorescence Imaging Spectroscopy and Microscopy

In recent years, the introduction of the combined use of flourescence spectroscopy and microscopy has opened up exciting new arenas of scientific investigation. The combination of spectroscopic techniques and video microscopy enables acquisition of quantitative data about dynamic processes. It allows the investigation of molecular activity as it occurs – at the level of a single, intact, living cell – and provides extraordinary detail regarding biological organization and function. This new work covers emerging technologies and their applications in a variety of disciplines, including chemistry, biology, physics, computer science, engineering, medicine, and pharmacology. Each chapter is devoted to a new, unique, or otherwise novel application of the combination of imaging techniques and flourescence spectroscopy. In addition to covering established methods and instrumentation, the contributors also identify potential new applications in a number of areas. Throughout, they emphasize the multifunctional and multidimensional uses of the marriage of flourescence imaging spectroscopy and digital imaging microscopy. They show how these technologies can be used in combination to obtain distinct yet complimentary information, allowing two- and three-dimensional measurements, as well as manipulations of the sample under study in real time. This book makes the field of flourescence imaging spectroscopy and microscopy accessible to scientists in a variety of research fields. It is also an excellent text for graduate students, a reference to the latest techniques, and a source of ideas to stimulate future investigation.
