computer science vs computer engineering
Computer Science vs computer engineering vs medical (doctor, etc) vs pharmacy?

What should I do for the future? Help! lol

Computer Science is typically associated to Software Engineering, while computer engineering is a combination of both software engineering and electrical engineering. Computer engineering jobs include thousands of different jobs, this is not including all the different types of jobs in software engineering as well.

If you like Medical doctor or pharmacy, well one position will require many years of study and residency and you will be interacting with patients. While as a pharmacist you will specialize and in prescribing the best medications and interacting mostly with drugs.

No one can make this kind of decision for you. Go talk to professionals in these fields and ask them about their jobs and what they like about them.

Good Luck!

Computer Engineering (also called Electronic and Computer Engineering, or Computer Systems Engineering) is a discipline that combines both Electronic Engineering and Computer Science. Computer engineers usually have training in electronic engineering, software design and hardwaresoftware integration instead of only software engineering or electronic engineering. Computer engineers are involved in many aspects of computing, from the design of individual microprocessors, personal computers, and supercomputers, to circuit design. This field of engineering not only focuses on how computer systems themselves work, but also how they integrate into the larger picture. Usual tasks involving computer engineers include writing software and firmware for embedded microcontrollers, designing VLSI chips, designing analog sensors, designing mixed signal circuit boards, and designing operating systems. citation needed] Computer engineers are also suited for robotics research, citation needed] which relies heavily on using digital systems to control and monitor electrical systems like motors, communications, and sensors. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles EECS is an abbreviation for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. It is a designation used at some universities for the major or department that blends these two fields together. Curriculum for an EECS degree is comparable to the curriculum for a degree in Computer Engineering. One reason behind linking the two areas of study is to provide students with a broad overview of both software and hardware. However there are also reasons for not blending departments: Students who major in theoretical computer science, studying such topics as algorithm analysis and software engineering, may not have any use for extensive electrical engineering classes. Science in the Age of Computer Simulation

Science in the Age of Computer Simulation

$24

Computer simulation was first pioneered as a scientific tool in meteorology and nuclear physics in the period following World War II, but it has grown rapidly to become indispensible in a wide variety of scientific disciplines, including astrophysics, high-energy physics, climate science, engineering, ecology, and economics. Digital computer simulation helps study phenomena of great complexity, but how much do we know about the limits and possibilities of this new scientific practice? How do simulations compare to traditional experiments? And are they reliable? Eric Winsberg seeks to answer these questions in Science in the Age of Computer Simulation . Scrutinizing these issue with a philosophical lens, Winsberg explores the impact of simulation on such issues as the nature of scientific evidence; the role of values in science; the nature and role of fictions in science; and the relationship between simulation and experiment, theories and data, and theories at different levels of description. Science in the Age of Computer Simulation will transform many of the core issues in philosophy of science, as well as our basic understanding of the role of the digital computer in the sciences.

Computer networking is the engineering discipline concerned with communication between computer systems or devices. Networking, routers, routing protocols, and networking over the public Internet have their specifications defined in documents called RFCs. Computer networking is sometimes considered a subdiscipline of telecommunications, computer science, information technology and/or computer engineering. Computer networks rely heavily upon the theoretical and practical application of these scientific and engineering disciplines. There are three types of networks: 1.Internet. 2.Intranet. 3.Extranet. A computer network is any set of computers or devices connected to each other with the ability to exchange data. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The term adaptation in computer science refers to a process, in which an interactive system (adaptive system) adapts its behaviour to individual users based on information acquired about its user(s) and its environment.A software system passes through a potentially long software engineering cycle and before delivery, requirement engineers, designers and software developers realize the components of the system. However, it is impossible to anticipate the requirements of all users, and a single best or optimal system configuration is impossible. Offset (Computer Science)

Offset (Computer Science)

$68.51

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In computer science, an offset within an array or other data structure object is an integer indicating the distance (displacement) from the beginning of the object up until a given element or point, presumably within the same object. The concept of a distance is valid only if all elements of the object are the same size (typically given in bytes or words). For example, given an array of characters A, containing abcdef, one can say that the element containing the letter c has an offset of 2 from the start of A. In computer engineering and lowlevel programming (such as assembly language), an offset usually denotes the number of address locations added to a base address in order to get to a specific absolute address. In this (original) meaning of offset, only the basic address unit, usually the 8bit byte, is used to specify the offsets size. In this context an offset is sometimes called a relative address. Quantum Computer Science

Quantum Computer Science

$40

In this text we present a technical overview of the emerging field of quantum computation along with new research results by the authors. What distinguishes our presentation from that of others is our focus on the relationship between quantum computation and computer science. Specifically, our emphasis is on the computational model of quantum computing rather than on the engineering issues associated with its physical implementation. We adopt this approach for the same reason that a book on computer programming doesn't cover the theory and physical realization of semiconductors. Another distinguishing feature of this text is our detailed discussion of the circuit complexity of quantum algorithms. To the extent possible we have presented the material in a form that is accessible to the computer scientist, but in many cases we retain the conventional physics notation so that the reader will also be able to consult the relevant quantum computing literature. Although we expect the reader to have a solid understanding of linear algebra, we do not assume a background in physics. This text is based on lectures given as short courses and invited presentations around the world, and it has been used as the primary text for a graduate course at George Mason University. In all these cases our challenge has been the same: how to present to a general audience a concise introduction to the algorithmic structure and applications of quantum computing on an extremely short period of time. The feedback from these courses and presentations has greatly aided in making our exposition of challenging concepts more accessible to a general audience. Table of Contents: Introduction / The Algorithmic Structure of Quantum Computing / Advantages and Limitations of Quantum Computing / Amplitude Amplification / Case Study: Computational Geometry / The Quantum Fourier Transform / Case Study: The Hidden Subgroup / Circuit Complexity Analysis of Quantum Algorithms / Conclusions / Bibliography

Computer Simulation

Computer Simulation

A computer simulation, a computer model, or a computational model is a computer program, or network of computers, that attempts to simulate an abstract model of a particular system. Computer simulations have become a useful part of mathematical modeling of many natural systems in physics (computational physics), astrophysics, chemistry and biology, human systems in economics, psychology, and social science and in the process of engineering new technology, to gain insight into the operation of those. Computer simulations vary from computer programs that run a few minutes, to networkbased groups of computers running for hours, to ongoing simulations that run for days.
